Shesees it as a realization that local people couldimprove their neighborhood and, %u201cpeoplewere empowered to do things on their own.%u201dOne of her activities that has probablyforever won Gibbs a place in the heart ofBrooklynites is the work that she gave overnine years in launching the annual AtlanticAntic Street Festival, New York%u2019s oldest andprobably still the largest. She retired as coordinator after many years to become more active in other aspects of neighborhoodrenewal.Recently Gibbs has been working in realestate, and just this year she opened theMargraf Group Ltd. Real Estate office onCourt St. She has been involved in therevitalization of the Fulton Mall, has servedas membership director at the Third Ave.Y.W.C.A., has been a member of its board ofdirectors until recently, and has served onthe board of directors at Roosa School ofMusic, where she was also community programs director. They presented her with a tool kit,an appropriate gift to help her withrenovating her farmhouse in New Hampshire, the Vachons observed. With no definiteplans once she gets to her new home, Gibbssays both she and her son Josh are very excited about the move.Gibbs says she is open to do anything%u201cfrom real estate to selling rasberries alongthe side of the road.%u201d She says she will missall of her old friends and neighbors, but looksback fondly at the changes she%u2019s helped bringto fruition. %u201cThis neighborhood has been avery exciting environment for me to live infor the past 17 years,%u201d she says.
