Nor have they forgotten the name of Walter O%u2019Malley, the man who took the Dodgers from Brooklyn back in 1957 and transplanted them to Los Angeles.%u201cThe Heart and Soul of Brooklyn ... Dodger Fans Remember,%u201d a documentary drama/slide show performed by members of the C.B.A. Theater Company May 25 at the Brooklyn Museum showed just how tenacious the emotions of those Dodger fans really are. Slide of O%u2019Malley drew hisses from the 40 people present while sniffles accompanied the flashback in history to Ebbett%u2019s Field, as the four performers from the theater dramatized the memoirs of Dodger fans still today who have not forgotten. And to sharpen their memories, former Dodger Cal Abrams joined their reminiscences. The script for the performance was penned by five students %u2014 Kathy Sullivan, Debby Krinick, Barbara Jackson, Marguerite Gregorio, Glynda Meyers %u2014 enrolled in a documentary course at Brooklyn College. It drew on interviews with fans and research involving what they say are %u201cthousands of books and articles,%u201d to create a verbal testimony from Howard Golden the Borough President to Barbara Jackson who lives on Dean Street that the memory lives.Jackson, one of the students, had her memories read aloud of her sense of betrayal when the team left: %u201cIt was almost like I had been burglarized. It was almost ten years before my father could mention the name of the team again,%u201d she remembers of the fateful year the Dodgers packed up their bags.Slide of the Dodger Sym-phony, five brothers from Williamsburg, who played at the games and dedicated their own version of %u201cThree Blind Mice%u201d to referees making bad calls, brought lighter moments to the nostalgic event as did shots of one fan who attended each game armed with two cowbellsto cheer the team and, at one game even passed a note from her centerfield seat to the players requesting a change in pitcher.TTie ode was not only to the pennant winning Dodgers, but to the stadium where they played, in one fan%u2019s words %u201cthe four comers of the world,%u201d and in another%u2019s %u201cthere was the diamond. It was a diamond. It sparkled.%u201dDedicated fans repeated their vow never to watch or listen to another baseball game after the Dodgers left. Many of us have ceased to be fans at all.%u201d But that fandom is still kept alive with no team in Brooklyn and former Dodger team member Cal Abrams was on hand to keep the spirit kindled. %u201cWe played in a so-called telephone booth or sandbox,%u201d he said, remarking on the small size of the 3,200 seat stadium. %u201cThe fans could see everything and hear everything,%u201d he said with a smile that had heads nodding in appreciative agreement.
