For further information, call 622-3300.Gallery Players SwingThe Gallery Players of Park Slope will open its 1986-87 performance season with its cabaret revue, %u201cSwingin%u2019 in the Breeze%u201d on September 19.%u201cSwingin%u2019 in the Breeze%u201d takes a look at music of all ages, with the focus on trends in American popular music of the 20th century. The cast includes Ken Dray,Catharine Guiher, Alice Gubdacker, Mark Hunt, Richard McCoy, Denise O%u2019Brien, Michael Pantone, Sally Sherwood and Maryann Swift. Dean Haglin wrote the narrative and serves as Master of Ceremonies. The production is directed by Mary Ruth Goodley.BACA Is Looking For ABACA Downtown is now accepting proposals from performing artists for the Fifth Annual Performing Showcase Forum. Open to all professional choreographers, composers, theater and performance artists, the Showcase Forum will run from December 12 through January 17.Applications from theater/performance artists and choreographers are due October 7; applications from composers are due October 22. BACA Downtown will present up to 100 artists and ensembles during the Showcase Forum, all selected from the submitted applications. Up to 15 artists are chosen by a judging panel to receive cash awards and full productions in BACA Downtown%u2019s New Territory series.The theater artists will perform December 12,13,19 and 20. This year%u2019s theater panel includes: Phillip Bither, associate director, Brooklyn Academy of Music%u2019s Next Wave Festival; Linda Bryant, executive director, Just Above Midtown; Brian Chavanne, casting assistant, New York Shakespeare Festiva; Georgij Von Leitis, artistic director, Elysium Theater Company; Jim Leverett, director ofThe audience will be seated at tables, cabaret-style, for the performance, andre fre s h m e n ts w ill he a v a ila h le P e rfo rmances will be held September 19, 20, 26 and 27, at 8pm; and September 21 and 28, at 3pm. The hours are: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 2-5pm; Thursday %u201cFamily Night,%u201d 2-8pm; Saturday, Sunday and holidays., 10am-5pm.There is a major new exhibition opening September 28 at the museum, called %u201cSounds Around,%u201d which will help kids learn how sounds are made and heard. The exhibit is semi-permanent, and will be on view for at least two years.There are other events and activities focusing on sound at the museum this month, such as: Sound-a-Vision Workshop on September 13,12:15-1:30pm; Musical Plants, September 20,1:15-2:30pm; Animal Communication with live animals, September 20, 2:45-4:15pm; and Music Around the World, with Peter Grigg and Iris Brooks, September 25, 6pm.
