Bermuda Dunes
Country Club

Region: Bermuda Dunes Course Type: Private

B ermuda Dunes offers 27 holes of tournament quality golf.
The course is generous in size with homes well off of the
fairway slopes. One popular feature of the course is that
the first tee and the ninth green of each of the three nines are
located near the clubhouse, making for an easy transition from
one nine to any other, and effectively offering 3 different 18-hole
courses. The original 18-holes were opened in 1959; adding the
Lake nine in 1963. The course’s designer, Bill Bell Jr., was given
simple instructions: “Make the course long enough to test the
professionals but make the fairways wide enough so the aver-
age golfer will not always be out-of-bounds or in hazard.” Bell,
who also designed courses at Torrey Pines, Bel-Air, Hacienda, La
Jolla, Newport Beach, San Diego, Tamarisk, Tucson, and Wood-
land Hills Country Clubs, succeeded admirably.

A lot of history has been made at Bermuda Dunes. The club
participated in 50 of the Bob Hope Classic tournaments. There
are only 2 Country Clubs in the United States with a longer as-
sociation with the PGA: Augusta National and Pebble Beach. It
is the site of Arnold Palmer’s first Classic win in 1960 as well as
his last PGA TOUR win in 1973.

Bermuda Dunes Country Club members and their guests
enjoy great course conditions year-round on our beautiful tree
lined courses. We are surrounded by gorgeous views of the San
Jacinto Mountains, rolling fairways, and fresh water lakes. With
27-holes of championship golf available for play and an innova-
tive tee sheet system, you will never have a problem getting a
tee time. Pace of play for 18-holes is always under four hours. We
have open groups for both men and women almost every day, so
finding a game is always easy.
