Enhancing Education with The Learning Blueprint
I am delighted to share some exciting developments within our
College. Our dedicated teachers have been participating in a
professional development program called The Learning Blueprint.
This program incorporates cutting-edge research from neuroscience,
psychology, and education to refine teaching strategies and enhance
student learning. Here is a peek into what our teachers are learning
and implementing in their classrooms:
Understanding the true nature of brain function is key to effective
teaching. Our teachers have been exploring how the brain works, and
the science of learning. They have investigated the foundations of thinking, and examined
the roles of coding and prediction in the mind. Building on their knowledge of brain
function, our teachers have been adding to their toolkits of specific strategies to improve
classroom learning. In order to implement these ideas, they are engaging in Micro-Projects,
and transforming what they are learning from theory into practice.
Our teachers have also learned to align the learning context with desired outcomes,
enhance memory by spacing out practise sessions, and help students understand that
making mistakes is a valuable part of the learning process. They have covered the theory
behind making learning more engaging, pre-activating facts and strategies to guide
learning, using recall to form deep, lasting memories, and mixing up practise tasks to
improve overall performance.
The commitment of our teachers to professional development through The Learning
Blueprint is a testament to their dedication to provide the best education for our students.
We are confident that these new strategies will greatly enhance the learning experience for
all of our students in our classrooms.
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to sharing more updates on our
journey of educational excellence.
