ProvidingNewsandViewsformorethan30yearsPage22ThequarterlymagazineispurchasableatJWalsh(Newsagents),1STHOLMERGREENSCOUTGROUPThegrouphadavariedautumnprogrammeasusual.AnumberofnewmembershavebeeninvestedineachsectiontogetherwithNickWarnerwhobecametheCubScoutleaderofThursdayCubs.Among theBeaver activitiesweregamesonthecommon,den buildinginPennwoods,Halloween preparation and paper plane flying.Cubs enjoyed a trip toPaccar wherethey enjoyedzip wire,archery and cratestacking.The highlightof thetermhasbeenwhenthreeteamsof CubsandleadersparticipatedintheBigO event over 3.50 kilometres in Wendover woods where they developed their orienteering skills.Following lastterm's successes onemorecub, Rebecca Venn,achievedthehighest award a cub can receive, the Chief Scout Silver.Scouts hadanumber ofoutdoor activitiesparticularlyapioneeringconstructionattheoldfire station.In preparation for Halloween pumpkins were carved containing lit candlesOn10thNovemberCubsandscoutsattendedtheRemembranceDayparadeOn18thNovember weheldour usualfamilyeveningwherethesectionsdemonstratetheir skills andinvitedparents toparticipate,together withashortAGM whereweseek toaugment our committee.From 30 November we will be commencing our Christmas card delivery service with boxes to collect cards in Walsh newsagent, Fox pharmacy and Holmer Green Hair at the usual price of 30p percardfordeliveryinHolmerGreenvillageonly(RoyalMailsecondclassstampscost85p).Cards will be collected from the shops on 19th of December and delivered from 21st.TheScoutFather Christmas floatwillonce again begoing round thevillage from16thto 19th December.Welookforwardtoanother successfulyear in2025.NeilSpencerCBE -GroupScoutLeader4THHOLMERGREENBROWNIESThis year%u2019s production was %u201cSnow White and the Eleven Dwarfs,%u201d performed at the Church Centre,HolmerGreenonSaturday9thNovember.Thiseventnotonly raisesfundstosupportour affiliation feeto Girl GuideAssociation (last year %u00a31500.00), but also helps theBrownies to learn more about themselves and to have huge fun and excitement.Each term we undertake activities connected with, and leading to, the awards of Brownie Guide badges,inarangeof topicsfromArchaeologytoZeroWaste.Theaimistoequipgirlswitharange of skills to enable each to find their potential.They are guided in a relaxed and happy atmosphere towards being useful and resourceful members of society.TheBrowniesareagedseventoten yearsold,after whichmanymoveontoGuides.WemeetonThursdayeveningsfrom5.30-7.00pmattheChurchCentre.Anyoneinterestedin joining us should contact:DrDianaBurman07973620551diana.burman@btinternet.comCHRISTMASCONCERTSBYTHEHEATHERTONSINGERSThe Heatherton Singers are once again bringing two Christmas concerts to local churches.The first is on Saturday 7th December at Holmer Green Baptist Church starting at 7.30pm and will include choir carols and readings as well as traditional carols for everyone to join in with -a great waytostartthefestiveseason.Refreshmentswillbeavailableandproceedsfromtheconcertwill go to Wycombe Homeless Connection.The second concert is on Monday 16th December at St Mary's Church in Amersham, again starting at 7.30pm.This will follow a similar format but includes special guests Quintessential Brasswhoarereturningbypopulardemand.ProceedsfromthisconcertwillgotoLighthouseGreat Missenden.Tickets for both concerts are %u00a310 and are available by email from events@holmergreenbaptist.org.ukfor the Holmer Green concert and from David Cook at david@cooks.me.ukfor the Amersham concert.DavidCook
