Children can visit Santa whilst everyone can enjoy the food, drink and games from various local organisations.Following previous years, where we%u2019ve been challenged by very wet weather we%u2019ve invested in a fully protected stageand improved PA systemso that thevoices fromthechoirs can be heardmore easily and the children won%u2019t get wet.So,StepintothemagicofChristmasatSanta'sGrotto!Bring the kids along for a festive experience filled with joy, laughter, and holiday cheer! Meet Santahimselfandwatchlittlefaceslightupwithwonder %u2013plus,everychildreceivesaspecialgift for just %u00a33!Don%u2019t miss out on making unforgettable memories this year at Christmas by the Common.Christmas by the Common is the third big event we are running this year following Music on the Commonin JulyandtherecentlycompletedCommunityFireworksonNovember2nd.It%u2019sthanksto Holmer GreenToday thatwecanrecognisethe Event%u2019s teamat theSociety whoareexceptionalat delivering really professional events.We now fill the Common and put on a show for a full 6 hours in the Summer and have over 1700 people at the fireworks event in November.As they say, It Takes a Village to put these events on and Makes a Village when they are done so well.We%u2019refortunateenoughtogenerateour fundsatboththebigevents,andfromthesaleofour merchandise, which means we can afford to host the Christmas event, so we look forward to welcoming people on December 1st.Elsewhere, Village Society teams are busy in the Jubilee Sensory Gardens and the flower beds around the pond, volunteers regularly complete the litter picks, and the planning team continue to pressure the ICB for plans to improve our local healthcare facilities, with some good publicity in thelocalpaper.LookoutfortheregularJubileeSensoryGardensfeatureinHolmerGreenToday from this month.We%u2019ve also been investigating other projects, most notably the %u201cVEGAS%u201d project, or Village EntranceGatesandSigns.Wearecurrentlylookingintothecostsandpracticalitiesofinstalling entrance gates at the entrances to the village.The idea is to install the gates where the basic Holmer Green Village signs are located to create a sense of place when entering Holmer Green.Entrancesignshavealsobeenprovedtoreducethespeed oftrafficasdriversrealise,theyare entering a village which means the signs would be more than just a visual benefit.As an extension to the VEGAS project, we are also aware of other places that are important spacesinthevillageand,inconjunctionwithindividualsworkingontheneighbourhoodplanweare looking at other OPEN SPACE areas in the village that could be improved or enhanced.Iftheseoranyotheraspectofthevillagesociety%u2019sworkisofinteresttoyou,pleasecontactus with your interest and we%u2019d be delighted to include you in the activity.LookingforwardtoseeingyouonDecember1stforChristmasbytheCommon.SimonJones%u2013Chair,HolmerGreenVillageSociety
