Mu. I’.uxn: 1 may say that the manufacturers wore in

Philadelphia recently, and we are hoping1to get an organization
formed. What I am getting at. is. the manufacturers are fixing
the price so that it does not leave enough margin to justify us
in handling it. The two figures are too near together to handle
                  it profitably.
Mu. P .vm sox: We adopted that resolution; is not this
                  discussion out of order?

M r. P rion : I understand it was to take up this item as an
                 assistance to the Secretary.
P resid en t S tkoxg : 1 do not understand that there is any
objection to the Secretary taking these three items up by mail with
the members to see if we get eighty per cent. That simply starts
                 the matter going.
There was a committee appointed yesterday, in addition to
the Machinery Committee which was to report to this meeting.
If that committee is ready to report, we would like to hear from
                  it.
Mr. I.rowx : We discussed the matter very thoroughly, and
thought it best to put it in the form of a resolution. We took up
                 three distinct points:

"II liereas. the National Machine Tool Ihiilders' Association
has promptly agreed to our request to give the selling agent
                 exclusive territory and absolute protection.
Ncsohvti. that we convey to them our appreciation of this
action and our purpose to have it result in distinct advantage to
                  them."
We offer this out of courtesy to the prompt response which
the Tool Association gave to us, and we think it due them to have
our Association approve of their action.
Second. "Whereas, the Machinery Committee has reported
the action *»f their joint meeting with the committee o f tile
National Machine I ool I’uildcrs Association resulting in an
agreement to recommend to the National Machine Tool I'tuMors?
Association the establishment of a re-sale price that shall be sub
ject to a discount ot not less than twelv ’ and a halt per cent to the
                  celling agent t. o. b. factory.
