                      “Jewish Resistance in the Holocaust”
Many are familiar with the Warsaw Ghetto uprising, but few know about
the story behind it. As a young Polish teenager, Sarasota Holocaust survi-
vor Marie Winkelman participated in the desperate plans made by Jewish

teenage groups whose intent was to escape or to die fighting for Jewish

honor. While being trundled off to her doom in the back of a Nazi truck,

Marie jumped off and later watched the Ghetto burn from the outside, with
her family inside. Join us for a discussion at 11:00 a.m. at the Al Katz

                                 Yom HaShoah and
                  Holocaust Arts Contest Winners Ceremony
2020 marks the 75 anniversary of the end of the Holocaust, the worst
                             th
catastrophe in world history. While most of the common soldiers who
liberated the camps had no idea what they were encountering, the world
knew of the Nazi mass persecutions of Jews by 1938. Learn about the
early public warnings, various doomed rescue plans, the aftermath that
left many newly liberated Jews still in concentration camps for years after
the Holocaust, and the urgent lessons for today. Join us for this discussion
