“This Month in Jewish History” Unconference
Significant events in December include the founding of the first kibbutz
in Palestine in 1909; the dedication of the Touro Synagogue in Newport,
Rhode Island, the oldest existing U.S. shul, in 1763; JNF was founded
in 1901; the Russo-U.S. trade treaty ratified in 1832 was abrogated by
President Taft in 1912 because of Russian discrimination against Jews
who were American citizens. This class, presented by the Al Katz Center,
begins at 10:00 a.m. via Zoom. Cost: $10 per day or $50 per month for all
