Torah & Tea
Join Chanie Bukiet either in person outdoors (in the Chabad tent, 5712
Lorraine Road, Bradenton) or on Zoom for a weekly dose of Torah spiced
with lessons on the weekly Torah portion and roundtable discussions. This
free class takes place from 11:00 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays, April 6, 13, 20

Lunch and Learn with Rabbi Michael Sternfield

Temple Sinai’s “The Twelve Minor Prophets”
A major section of the Tanach (Hebrew Bible) is Navi’im, Prophets. Each
week, following the chanting of the Torah, we add a prophetic reading.
This series will study the teachings and intent of some of the lesser-
known prophets and, when applicable, ascertain why the Sages chose
to emphasize various sections. This series will be facilitated by Reb Ari
Shapiro and will continue every Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. on Zoom. For the

and Commemoration

Join us at 7:00 p.m. on Zoom for the Sarasota/Manatee Annual Yom
HaShoah Community Service and Commemoration. The event is sponsored
by the Sarasota/Manatee Rabbinic Association in conjunction with the
Jewish Congregation of Venice, Temple Beth Israel of Longboat Key and
The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee. The service will include
memorial prayers, readings and reflections, and the personal testimony
of Pieter Kohnstam, author of A Chance to Live: A Family’s Journey to

Temple Sinai is offering a free series, “The History of the State of Israel,
Zionism Through 2020, the First 72 Years,” presented by Uri Feinberg, a
Jewish educator for 25 years. Born in the U.S., Uri immigrated to Israel
when he was 10. Every Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. on Zoom, Uri will explore
various aspects of Israel’s development starting in the middle of the 19 th
century. Part 1, April 7: “The Foundation of Zionism.” Part 2, April 14:

“Yom HaShoah Holocaust Remembrance:
Jewish Heroines”
Jewish women commanded leading roles in saving lives during the Holo-
caust, including many girls whose bravery is virtually unknown, as 3,000
women fought against the Nazis in ghettos, slave labor camps, concentra-
tion camps and partisan units. Learn the heroic acts of Ruth Katz, sister of
Al Katz, and Sarasota’s own Marie Winkelman in Nazi resistance. Risking
their own lives every moment for years, teenage girls and young women
showed their maternal instincts and innate goodness in a dark, dangerous
world. This class, presented by the Al Katz Center, begins at 11:00 a.m.
