P. 10
Today, South Korea, Japan, and the United States stand united in our quest to
navigate through the complex Northeast Asia geopolitical landscape that has been
significantly shaped by the intricate dynamics involving the United States, China,
North Korea, and Russia.
In recent times, we have witnessed China’s overt protection of North Korea, a nation
persistently engaging in missile provocations and supplying weapons to Russia.
This alliance not only exacerbates security concerns within Northeast Asia but also
casts a long shadow over the international community’s security. Furthermore, the
plight of North Korean defectors, treated as illegal immigrants and often forcibly
repatriated to a regime notorious for its human rights abuses, underscores the grave
humanitarian crises we face.
This volume, divided into three pivotal sections, aims to shed light on these
pressing issues. Its analysis revolves around the military and security threats posed
by North Korea’s nuclear and missile provocations, the harrowing reality of human
rights abuses abetted by China, and strategies to enhance Korea-Japan-U.S. trilateral
cooperation in pursuit of peace and stability.
The distinguished authors featured bring with them a wealth of knowledge and
expertise. From exploring the military and security challenges to addressing the
human rights violations and forging stronger ties between our nations, this volume
promises to be both enlightening and enriching. While the chapters represent the
views of the authors themselves, they collectively point to the three nations’ resolve
to build a more secure and just world.
