DISABILITY INSURANCE



Short Term Disability Insurance

Short term disability (STD) insurance, including parental leave, is provided to all benefits-eligible
employees. Benefits are based on job classification and length of service. Detailed information on
the short term disability benefits can be found on the Firm Benefits page of the local portal. FMLA
may run concurrent to some or all of your STD leave.

Long Term Disability Insurance

Partners and eligible employees are automatically enrolled in the Firm’s long term disability (LTD)
plan. Administered by Unum, LTD benefits for Partners, Principals, Chiefs, Counsel, Non-Partner
Lawyers, Professionals, Directors, and Managers is 60 percent of salary, up to $25,000 per month
For all others, the benefit is equal to 60 percent of salary, up to $15,000 per month. This is a Firm-
provided benefit for all.

Individual Disability Insurance

Partners, Principals, and Chiefs receive a Firm-paid individually owned disability insurance (IDI)
policy that pays 60 percent of the first $100,000 of annual earnings lost due to long term illness or
incapacitation. This benefit pays disability benefits of $5,000 per month, in addition to your Firm-
provided long term disability insurance coverage, for a total available disability benefit of $30,000
per month.

Long Term Care

Administered by Unum, this long term care plan allows you and your family to remain more
financially independent should long term custodial care become necessary for you or a loved
one. You and your eligible family members (spouse, adult children, parents, parents-in-law,
grandparents, and grandparents-in-law) can be covered. Your family members can enroll for
coverage even if you do not. Covered services include home healthcare, adult daycare, and nursing
care. Partners and Principals are automatically enrolled in the Firm’s basic long term care (LTC)
plan which includes a $3,000-per-month facility benefit for up to three years. For more details,
