MEDICAL AND PRESCRIPTION
DRUG BENEFITS
HAWAII EMPLOYEES
DAWSON has two different medical benefits contribution categories for full-time regular employees. The Prevailing
Wage (PVW) category applies to Service Contract Act (SCA), Davis-Bacon and Related Act (DBRA), and some
collective bargaining agreements (CBA). All other employees are in the non-Prevailing Wage category. If you have
any questions about your category, contact your HR Business Partner.
Hawaii-based employees are offered two medical plans
to choose from:
• UHA Health PPO plan
• Kaiser Permanente HMO plan
All Hawaii-based employees must elect or waive
coverage. PLEASE NOTE: If you do not complete the
waiver form, DAWSON will automatically enroll you in
the Kaiser Permanente HMO plan for single coverage and
$40.11 will be deducted from your bi-weekly paycheck
for the least expensive Kaiser Permanente employee-
only medical coverage (or $18.51 if you receive a weekly
paycheck). As a reminder, you will not be permitted to
terminate this coverage unless you have a life event.
The UHA Health PPO plan provides both in- and out-
of-network benefits, with better benefits and discounts
if care is provided by participating providers. You and
your covered family members are not required to select
a primary care provider (PCP), nor obtain a referral to
seek specialist care.
The Kaiser Permanente HMO plan only provides
services from participating HMO providers. You and
each covered family member must designate a PCP and
obtain a referral prior to seeking specialist, outpatient, * During the two months in a year that have three pay

deducted from the first two paychecks.
These rates apply except where indicated otherwise by the
Hawaii Prepaid Health Care Act.
