The Novato Fire Protection District is seeking an energetic, collaborative, effective leader as the next Fire Chief. The Fire Chief is the top management position responsible for the overall administration and leadership of the District. The successful candidate will perform complex technical, administrative, and supervisory work in planning, organizing, directing, and assumes total management responsibility for fire prevention, suppression, investigation, disaster preparedness, and emergency medical services to prevent or minimize the loss of life and property by fire and emergency medical conditions, and provide other related duties, as assigned.In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, the ideal candidate will:%u2022 Be transparent, service oriented, humble, and accessible, an effective communicator, a critical thinker, respectful of others and thereby garner respect.%u2022 Value community participation and have demonstrated ability to cultivate regional partnerships.%u2022 Value career development, preferably through the achievement of advanced Fire Certificates (e.g., National Fire Council Chief Executive Officer, Chief Fire Officer, California State Chief Officer.)%u2022 Be experienced with California%u2019s Master Mutual Aid Plan and working within it.%u2022 Have demonstrated fiscal responsibility and leadership accomplishments; source and acquire funding for the District.%u2022 Be experienced and competent with labor negotiations and will foster respectful and effective employee relations.%u2022 Have experience and demonstrated familiarity with the current critical issues that Novato Fire is facing. %u2022 Be a strategic and critical thinker and planner, comfortable resolving conflict toward better solutions.%u2022 Possession and maintenance of California Class C driver%u2019s license with Firefighter Endorsement or greater is desired.
