Al-Futtaim Initiates ‘Building Bridges’ to Empower Emirati Youth and Celebrate 70 Years of
UAE-Japan Partnership

In an ambitious effort to foster cultural exchange and empower the next generation of Emirati leaders, Al-Futtaim has unveiled its flagship initiative
titled “Building Bridges: Voices of the Future.” This initiative, launched in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Culture, Emirates Foundation, and
Al Khaleejiya Radio 100.9, with the backing of the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025, aims to send a cohort of 50 exceptional Emirati youth to represent the
UAE at the upcoming Expo in Osaka, Japan. This initiative not only celebrates the enduring 70-year partnership between the UAE and Japan but also
aligns with the UAE’s designation of 2023 as the Year of Community.

A Milestone Event Reflecting Shared Values

The “Building Bridges” initiative is designed to enrich participants’ personal and professional development by immersing them in the diverse cultures
of the world. Selected delegates, aged between 21 and 30, will engage in a wide array of activities including exploring global showcases and
participating in cultural dialogues that emphasize creativity and innovation. By doing so, Al-Futtaim intends to underscore its commitment to
strengthening the cultural and economic ties that have characterized its relationship with Japan, particularly as it officially represents 13 esteemed
Japanese brands within the UAE.

One notable aspect of this initiative is its choice of Osaka as its symbolic destination. The city’s selection is a deliberate homage to the UAE-Japan
bilateral relationship, which has blossomed over seven decades. The participants will undertake their journey through a meticulous selection process
that assesses their leadership potential, cultural awareness, community impact, and creativity, thereby ensuring that the chosen representatives are well-
equipped to act as ambassadors for their nation.
