5/22/25, 4:36 PM UAE’s Investments in Belarus Surpass $4 Billion, Says Minister – GCC BUSINESS WATCH
Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, reaffirmed the robust and growing partnership between
the two nations during his participation at the opening of the Minsk International Exhibition Centre. Speaking on the sidelines of the
event, he highlighted the impressive progress in UAE-Belarus relations, underscored by the UAE’s position among the top three
foreign investors in Belarus, with cumulative investments exceeding $4 billion.

These Emirati investments span a wide range of key sectors, including defense, technology, hospitality, and urban development. Dr.
Al Zeyoudi noted a particular surge in Emirati interest in the food production and industrial sectors, where Belarus holds competitive
advantages due to its strong manufacturing base and skilled workforce.

A milestone achievement in the evolving economic partnership is the completion of negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in
goods between the UAE and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), with the signing anticipated soon in Minsk. Alongside this,
a supplementary bilateral agreement covering services and investments has also been finalized and is currently undergoing legal
review ahead of its formal signing.

Dr. Al Zeyoudi emphasized the importance of building on this momentum through institutional and sectoral collaboration, including
organizing business councils, trade delegations, and the next session of the UAE-Belarus Joint Economic Committee scheduled for
later this year. These steps aim to create further opportunities for economic integration and private sector engagement.

One of the most significant developments showcased during the visit was the official opening of the Minsk International Exhibition
Centre, a project backed by Emirati investments. The center marks the first phase of the ambitious Northern Waterfront development,
which envisions the creation of a smart economic city in Belarus. This city is designed to attract global investment, boost tourism, and
integrate modern technologies, reflecting the UAE’s growing influence in emerging international markets.

This comprehensive collaboration between the UAE and Belarus highlights a shared vision for sustainable development, innovation,
and diversified growth, strengthening their positions as key players in the evolving global economy.
