At the third meeting, chaired by His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Belhul Al Falas, Minister
of Education, President of the General Authority for Sport and Chairman of the
Board, the Sports Coordinating Council identified the group of “Priority Sports”.
The focus will be on increasing the UAE’s sporting competitiveness and global
presence in the next phase, enhancing the country’s ability to achieve sporting and
Olympic achievements in regional and international forums.
The Council said the sport was selected on the basis of a comprehensive study
carried out by the Directorate General for Sport in collaboration with relevant
government partners at the state level and analyzing best practices and similar
practices in many other countries around the world. As per the Pentecostal and
Sports Sector Strategy, 2032, which aims to broaden the base of participation in
international forums and increase the chances of Olympic achievement in the UAE,
as the priority category of sports included 5 sports, namely, shooting bow,
athletics. , fencing, archery and judo.
His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Belhul Al Falasi said: “The UAE has an ambitious vision
for the future of national sport based on solid leadership guidelines and the
defining factors of the UAE Vision 2071, which aims to consolidate and develop the
country’s prestige. Global reputation in various forums and prepare the younger
generation that can achieve global achievements. In this sense, today we use the
concept of priority sports, developed after integrated studies and according to the
mechanisms studied, with the aim of strengthening access to the podiums of UAE
champions and achieving a tangible change in the level of presence. . Emirates

He added, “Therefore, our focus will be on priority sports that have the capabilities
and standards that qualify them to achieve outstanding sporting levels and
achievements, as well as top athletes in a variety of sports, through governance

demonstrate their exceptional talent and high potential in any sport, and we will

Priority sports were identified based on a ranking that included all sports and well-
studied criteria including: Olympic potential in each sport, chances of Olympic
success, chances of winning Olympic medals, achievements and unification of
international championships and competing globally. He currently owns this sport.
Taking into account facts and statistics related to each sport, such as number of
practitioners, number of clubs, reality of training centers, infrastructure, tools and
equipment available, in addition to other criteria related to ease of
implementation, cost, preparation of the federation, plans financing and more
