8/6/25, 1:29 PM Dubai International Program for Writing Wraps Up 'Children's Literature Workshop' in Tunisia

The workshop constituted four intensive in-person training sessions, each spanning over three days. These sessions were meticulously crafted to
accommodate writers at various stages of their careers, from budding authors to seasoned professionals. The curriculum covered an array of crucial
topics pertinent to the field of children’s literature. Participants delved into the historical context of children’s literature with a particular focus on
Arabic contributions, explored various literary genres, and examined age-appropriate content. They further discussed the essential aspects of pre-
writing planning, character development, setting, plot structure, narrative styles, and narrative perspectives.

A noteworthy feature of the program was its emphasis on practical elements of writing. Participants received specialized guidance on titling, editing,
cover design, and the creation of an author brand. Moreover, marketing strategies tailored to the needs of aspiring children’s authors were outlined,
equipping them with essential tools to navigate the complexities of the literary marketplace.

This workshop marks the second edition conducted in Tunisia and the third across the broader North African region. Such initiatives underscore
MBRF’s commitment to building an enriched literary tradition by leveraging innovative approaches that transcend geographic boundaries. The use of a
hybrid model, which included remote monitoring and manuscript reviews, allowed for sustained engagement between trainers and participants. This
approach ensured that the mentorship delivered was of the highest quality and that participants received valuable feedback crucial for the self-editing
        process.

As the workshop came to a close, it became evident that the fusion of dedication, talent, and comprehensive training had borne fruit. Many participants

emerged with polished manuscripts that resonate with the aspirations of children in the Arab world while adhering to international literary standards.
The overarching goal remains not merely the creation of stories but the cultivation of a thriving literary culture that can inspire future generations.

In a region that is witnessing an evolution of thought and creativity, initiatives such as the MBRF’s Children’s Literature Workshop stand as pivotal
steps toward enriching the literary landscape. By investing in the creative potential of its youth, the Foundation plays a crucial role in shaping an
informed and imaginative society poised to meet the exigencies of an ever-changing world.
