UAE Participates In Diplomatic Conference On

Design Law In Riyadh

The UAE recently took part in the Diplomatic Conference to Conclude and Adopt a Design Law Treaty,
held in Riyadh from November 11 to 22, 2024. Organized under the auspices of the World Intellectual
Property Organization (WIPO) and chaired by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the conference marked a

pivotal phase in finalizing a treaty aimed at strengthening the legal protection of industrial designs and
intellectual property (IP) globally. The event also sought to promote innovation and creativity across
member states.

H.E. Dr. Abdulrahman Hassan Al Muaini, Assistant Undersecretary for the IP Rights Sector at the

Ministry of Economy, represented the UAE at the event, which was attended by H.E. Daren Tang,
Director General of WIPO, and representatives from numerous WIPO member states.
