9/3/25, 10:17 AM Dubai Science Park Joins Ministry to Boost IP Protection
Under the agreement, the Ministry will provide legal and technical support to companies operating
within Dubai Science Park and other TECOM Group business districts. This initiative aims to safeguard

the rights of innovators, while strengthening the UAE’s position as a global hub for IP protection.

Dr. Al Muaini emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to advancing the innovation ecosystem: “The MoU
with TECOM Group will provide legal and technical support to business owners operating within TECOM

Group’s business districts, while also accelerating the review and commercialisation of patent
applications both locally and internationally. This, in turn, will enhance the economic value of our

        national innovations.”

The partnership also aims to increase the economic value of patents by facilitating their review and

commercialization. By integrating public and private sector expertise, the collaboration seeks to create a
supportive legislative and institutional framework for innovators.

        Fostering a Knowledge-Driven Economy

Marwan Abdulaziz Janahi highlighted the impact of IP protections on innovation: “IP protections are
essential to foster innovation, and the UAE’s commitment to nurturing human ingenuity is attracting the

world’s brightest minds to our nation. Our strategic partnership with the Ministry of Economy and
Tourism will significantly accelerate research and development, cultivating homegrown innovation that

        delivers global impact.”

The agreement comes as patent activity in the UAE shows strong growth. Between January and July

2025, the Ministry recorded 1,221 granted patents, compared to 466 during the same period in 2024.
Additionally, 2,430 new patent applications were filed this year, up from 1,996 in the previous year,

signaling growing awareness of IP as a driver of economic growth.

Dubai Science Park, home to more than 500 companies and 6,500 professionals in life sciences, energy,
and environmental sectors, offers LEED-certified labs, Grade-A offices, and advanced storage and

logistics facilities. The district forms part of TECOM Group’s portfolio of specialized business hubs, which
includes Dubai Internet City, Dubai Design District, and Dubai Industrial City.
