Commenting on the significance of the project, Dawoud Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai
Municipality, emphasized the pivotal role of Dubai Creek in the emirate’s economic landscape.
He underscored the municipality’s commitment to bolstering the city’s infrastructure resilience
and ensuring the uninterrupted flow of maritime traffic.
“The Dubai Creek stands as a testament to the city’s rich maritime heritage and serves as a
critical artery for commercial operations,” stated Al Hajri. “Through this ambitious restoration
project, we aim to reinforce the creek’s structural integrity and enhance its operational
efficiency, thereby bolstering Dubai’s position as a global trade hub.”
Furthermore, the project will encompass the installation of 200 anchors along the creek to
facilitate safe navigation services and bolster maritime security measures. The second phase
of the initiative will extend to the Bur Dubai side, covering an additional 2.3km length of the
creek.
With a projected timeline of 14 months, the restoration project is poised to significantly
enhance the resilience of Dubai Creek against climatic fluctuations and rising sea levels. By
adhering to the highest global standards in construction and engineering, Dubai Municipality
aims to ensure the longevity and sustainability of this historic waterway for generations to
come.
As Dubai continues its trajectory of growth and development, initiatives such as the Dubai
