                   SLC organises ‘Linguistic Security’ workshop to promote Arabic


                              Language and Strengthen its Legal Safeguards






               26 October 2025: The General Secretariat of the Supreme Legislation Committee in the Emirate

               of Dubai (SLC) organised a workshop titled ‘Linguistic Security’, attended by legal professionals
               from the SLC General Secretariat and various government entities in Dubai. This initiative forms

               part of national efforts to promote the Arabic language and affirm its pivotal role as a cornerstone
               of the UAE’s national identity,  while exploring  the  effective legislative mechanisms  for its

               promotion and protection.


               The workshop addressed several key themes, including the concept and dimensions of linguistic
               security, the deep connection between language and national identity, legislative frameworks for

               safeguarding the Arabic language, the role of linguistic policy in maintaining the integrity of the
               language, and an overview of government initiatives aimed at promoting linguistic security.



               H.E.  Ahmad  Saeed  bin Meshar  Al Muhairi,  SLC  Secretary  General, emphasised the Arabic
               language’s pivotal role in shaping the national identity. His Excellency stated “Arabic is not merely

               a means of communication, but a living expression of our shared heritage and sense of belonging.
               It embodies the memory of our civilisation and serves as a bulwark protecting our national identity

               against the challenges of modernity.”


               H.E.  Al Muhairi  added: “Preserving the Arabic language requires  the  concerted effort  of  all
               concerned entities to safeguard it and enhance its applications, in line with the vision of our wise

               leadership, which places the Arabic language at the heart of our national priorities.”


               The presenter of the workshop,  Mr.  Salem Ibrahim Al Ahmad, Head of the Research and
               Publications Section at the SLC General Secretariat explained: “The Linguistic Security workshop
