He highlighted that the number of hotel guests in the UAE reached around 30.8 million in 2024,
marking a 9.5% increase. This represents 77% of the target set by the 'National Tourism Strategy
2031'.
"With the current growth trajectory, we are well on track to achieving the strategy's ambitious goal
of attracting 40 million hotel guests," bin Touq said.
He noted that tourism continues to be a vital sector in enhancing the competitiveness and resilience
of the national economy, playing a key role in the UAE’s shift towards a knowledge- and
innovation-driven economic model.
Dubai attracts 18.7 million tourists
Dubai hosted 18.72 million international overnight visitors in 2024, a 9% increase from the previous
year, surpassing the 2023 record of 17.15 million.
The emirate's hotel sector continued to perform robustly last year, with average occupancy
increasing to 78.2% from 77.4% in 2023.
Occupied room nights hit a record 43.03 million, showing a 3% growth compared to 41.7 million in
the previous year.
Meanwhile, the revenue per available room (RevPAR) of $114.6 (AED 421) in 2024 was a 2%
increase on the $112.9 (AED 415) the previous year.
Big number
Dubai International Airport (DXB), one of the busiest travel hubs globally, greeted 92.3
million passengers through its terminals in 2024, as reported by Dubai's ruler, Sheikh Mohammed
bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
