This innovative partnership leverages technology and digital learning to empower students,
young people, and educators with essential knowledge and skills to combat the climate
crisis.
The MoU establishes a collaborative framework for the three organizations to develop and
implement a comprehensive climate education course, enhancing the existing school
curriculum under the Ministry of Education's guidance. This course will be delivered
through KICD's Kenya Education Cloud platform, a nationwide digital initiative providing
schools with extensive educational resources.
Prof. Charles Ochieng Ong'ondo, CEO of KICD, emphasized the critical nature of this
initiative, stating, “This collaboration reflects our commitment to providing relevant and
timely educational content that prepares learners for the future. Integrating climate change
education into the curriculum is a vital step in building a sustainable society. The Kenya
Education Cloud will make this content readily accessible to learners and teachers across
Kenya.”
Alef Education's CEO, Geoffrey Alphonso, highlighted the significance of the
partnership, saying,
