Downdetector® by Ookla® Report Highlights Biggest Service Outages in 2024,
Including Facebook, Crowdstrike, and Microsoft

While the Microsoft 365 and Facebook outages had a significant impact on the Middle East and Africa region,
disruptions were also seen at local telecommunications providers such as Telkom, MTN and Vodacom.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, December 9, 2024/APO Group/ -- Facebook's outage on March 5 was the
world's largest, with 11.1 million users reporting problems.
Following the Crowdstrike outage on July 19, nearly five million users reported problems with services that depend
on it, including emergency services, airlines and ride-hailing apps.
The most significant outage in the Middle East and Africa was Microsoft 365 on March 14, as part of a global
event.

The main conclusions of the report are as follows:
Social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp were the worst hit, affecting millions of users.
Additionally, ISPs and gaming services have also been heavily impacted, highlighting both the complexity of the
Internet and the needs of network-dependent services in this complex ecosystem.
Although the outages occurred worldwide, key regions such as Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America, the Middle
East, Africa and the United States experienced significant service disruptions.
