UAE and Canada discuss enhancing collaboration in aviation,
transport, and logistics with focus on expanding air connectivity
Meeting explores exchange of expertise and best practices in safety standards,
environmental protection, and advanced technology to enhance operational
efficiency
Abu Dhabi, 28 September 2025
H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, held a meeting with the
Honourable Steven MacKinnon, Canadian Minister of Transport, on the sidelines of the Investopia
Global - Alberta, which brought together business leaders, investors, innovators, officials,
decision-makers and entrepreneurs from both countries. During the meeting, H.E. underlined the
continued growth of the UAE-Canada relations across economic, investment and tourism sectors,
under the guidance and support of both leaderships.
H.E. Bin Touq said: “Our aim is to strengthen bilateral relations and support the economic growth
and prosperity of both nations. This will be achieved through expanded and diversified
collaboration in key sectors, including new economy industries, tourism, aviation, transport,
logistics, and entrepreneurship. Such efforts are key to advancing the developmental agendas of
both countries while enhancing the flexibility and competitiveness of our business environments.”
The UAE and Canadian sides also explored mechanisms to boost joint air transport, including
increasing flights operated by their national carriers. This initiative will support broader economic
growth, enhance tourism flows, and open new avenues for investment and expansion in this vital
sector.
During the meeting, H.E. Bin Touq reviewed several strategic plans for aviation, transport, and
logistics projects in the UAE, in line with the nation’s broader sustainability goals. These
initiatives focus on expanding economic partnerships with key regional and global markets,
positioning the UAE as a regional hub for sustainable aviation fuel, adopting advanced transport
technologies, and promoting green transport initiatives.
Both sides also explored ways to exchange expertise and best practices in safety, environmental
protection, and the implementation of cutting-edge technologies to enhance operational
