H.E. Bin Touq briefs Alberta’s ministers of economy and tourism on
developments in the UAE’s business environment and tourism
infrastructure
Discussions focus on opportunities to strengthen engagement between
UAE and Canadian business communities, fostering the expansion of
their ventures into new economy sectors & international markets
Abu Dhabi, 26 September 2025
H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, and Chairman of Investopia,
held bilateral meetings with the Honourable Joseph Schow, Alberta’s Minister of Jobs, Economy,
Trade and Immigration, and the Honourable Andrew Boitchenko, Minister of Tourism and Sport
of Alberta. The meetings took place on the sidelines of Investopia Global Talks – Alberta, which
brought together business leaders, investors, innovators, decision-makers, and entrepreneurs from
both countries. The discussions explored avenues for collaboration in new economy sectors,
tourism, travel, hospitality, aviation and air transport.
H.E. Bin Touq underscored the continued growth of economic relations between the UAE and
Canada across various sectors, driven by the strong support and close attention of both countries’
leaderships. He emphasized the promising opportunities to further strengthen the UAE–Canada
economic partnership, particularly in future economy sectors, which will contribute to mutual
growth and expand bilateral investment opportunities.
His Excellency briefed the Canadian side on recent developments in the UAE’s business and
economic landscape, noting that over the past five years, more than 35 legislative, policy, and
economic reforms have been introduced or updated. These include 10 policies in new economy
sectors, the introduction of full foreign ownership of companies, and the opening of more than
2,000 economic activities for business. In addition, the UAE is working to enhance its world-class
tourism offerings, from landmark destinations to exceptional visitor experiences, while
continuously upgrading tourism infrastructure in line with global best practices.
