extinction of over 70 percent of known species. This highlights the need for immediate action to
conserve biodiversity and ecosystems from the negative effects of climate change.
DIPW further released the ‘Climate Change’ book, translated by Hajar Ali Musa into Arabic. The
book explores climate change phenomena and various components that influence weather, such
as rainfall, temperature, air pressure, and humidity. Although weather fluctuates daily, climate
change is a long-term phenomenon with a far-reaching impact on the ecosystem. The increasing
global temperature observed over the last few decades demonstrates a substantial shift in
climate, mostly due to human activity. As a result, responsible adaptation to such constant change
becomes increasingly important. The book depicts dramatic climate shifts that have occurred in
the past, such as the Younger Dryas period around 14,500 years ago and the Little Ice Age
th
between the 16 and mid-19 centuries. These events caused starvation and had negative
th
environmental consequences.
