H.E. Bin Touq visits InstaBlock Center to explore cutting-edge
technologies safeguarding IP rights in the UAE
Minister of Economy learns about the Center’s operational framework, which
instantly blocks websites that violate the IP legislation in the country
Abu Dhabi, 18 March 2025:
H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, visited the ‘InstaBlock Center’ for the
instant blocking of websites that violate Intellectual Property (IP) rights, located in Dubai Media
City. The Center, which was recently established by the Ministry of Economy, aims to combat the
streaming of digital content in violation of the UAE’s IP legislation.
The Minister of Economy emphasized that the UAE is steadily strengthening its position as a
global hub for innovation and creativity by safeguarding original ideas and transforming them into
key contributors to the national economy. H.E. noted that the launch of the InstaBlock Center
reflects the UAE’s commitment to building a pioneering system for IP protection in line with
global best practices, thus fostering a creative environment that supports talent and innovators in
line with the "We the UAE 2031" vision.
During the visit, H.E. Bin Touq was acquainted with the Center’s operational framework and the
cutting-edge technologies that it uses, including artificial intelligence (AI) tools that identify and
instantly block unauthorized content. These advanced solutions play a vital role in accelerating
and streamlining the enforcement of IP protection legislations. The Center’s efforts are further
strengthened through strategic partnerships and agreements with leading regional and international
media organizations and digital platforms, ensuring coordinated action to protect the IP rights of
creators and digital content producers.
H.E. added: "Advancing the UAE’s IP landscape is a key strategic priority that we are committed
to achieving, through partnerships with various public and private entities and by adopting the
latest technologies to enhance the enforcement of the legislation governing it. These efforts aim to
empower creators and content producers, helping them fully capitalize on their intellectual and
creative potential, thus driving the sustainability of the digital economy."
The visit also highlighted a series of strategic agreements signed by the Ministry of Economy with
leading entities, aimed at strengthening collaboration in protecting IP rights. These agreements
