and creators, ensuring that their content is not published, shared, or used without the explicit
consent of its rightful owners.
H.E. Bin Touq concluded his visit by stressing the importance of continually developing the
Center’s operations and strengthening collaboration with both local and international partners to
broaden the scope of digital protection. H.E said: "Accelerating the blocking of unauthorized
content enhances the UAE’s ability to protect creativity and solidifies its position as a global leader
in driving the new and digital economies. We remain committed to developing innovative tools
and technologies to ensure that all digital platforms comply with the IP legislation in force, while
protecting the rights of creators in an era of rapid digital transformation.” He further noted that the
Ministry of Economy is actively working to expand the Center’s reach to include a wider network
of regional and global digital platforms, ensuring stronger enforcement of IP legislations and
building greater confidence in the UAE’s dynamic digital landscape.
Notably, 4,557 websites were blocked in 2024, compared to that of 1,123 in 2023, reflecting the
UAE’s continued efforts to combat digital piracy and protect the intellectual property rights of
creators.
The InstaBlock project is an integral part of the UAE’s new intellectual property system, which
includes more than 30 initiatives focused on strengthening the country’s ability to combat IP
violations. It also supports the Ministry of Economy’s broader efforts to create a secure,
sustainable digital environment that attracts investment in creative content, fuels the growth of the
digital media sector, and enhances the UAE’s competitiveness in global anti-piracy indicators.
