Kannur Beach Run 2025 draws over 1,000 participants

The Kannur Beach Run 2025, organised by the North Malabar Chamber of Commerce,
reaffirmed its position as one of Kerala’s premier running events, attracting over 1,000
participants across multiple race categories, on Sunday (February 23).

Featuring the State’s highest prize money for a half marathon, the event elevated its
competitive stature while also celebrating community engagement and international
participation. A.N. Shamseer, Speaker of the Kerala Legislative Assembly, flagged off the run.

In the men’s 21km race, Ethiopian runner Kebede Berhanu Negash claimed first place,
followed by Lokesh Chaudhary and Akash M.N. In the women’s Half Marathon, another
Ethiopian runner Abetu Milkitu Muleta secured victory, with Hardofa Mesert Driba and Techoo
Bekelu Abebe finishing second and third, respectively.
