1/30/25, 2:19 PM Watch: Groundbreaking ‘Water from Air’ project launched at Ajman
Bahi Ajman Palace Hotel, in partnership with AirOWater Global, has launched the region’s first
100% water-from-air sustainable water bottling plant.
Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Ajman Department of Tourism
Development launched the project at Bahi Ajman Palace Hotel in Ajman in the presence of a large
number of guests as part of the ‘go green’ initiative.
The water-from-air technology implemented at the hotel extracts moisture from the atmosphere to
produce pure, clean drinking water. The facility is capable of producing 365,000 litres of water per
year, providing a fully sustainable water source for the hotel’s needs. This solution supports the
hotel’s commitment to sustainability, ensuring that water is sourced without the environmental
burden of plastic bottles or long-distance transportation.
Iftikhar Hamdani explaining about innovative water from air project in Ajman
Ashfaq Ahmed
Iftikhar Hamdani, Area General Manager at Bahi Ajman Palace Hotel, said: “I am thrilled that today
we are launching the first 100% water-from-air project in the Northern Emirates. This state-of-the-
art facility allows us to harness moisture from the air, turning it into pure, drinkable water. With the
ability to generate up to 1,000 litres of water daily, this plant exceeds our hotel’s daily requirements.
The real beauty of this project is that it eliminates the need for plastic bottles, helping us reduce
landfill waste. I hope other businesses will follow suit and adopt such sustainable practices.”
Sustainable water solution
By switching to water harvested from the air, the hotel is making significant strides in reducing its
carbon footprint. The hotel’s annual water production directly avoids the need for approximately
365,000 plastic bottles, saving them from landfills and eliminating emissions tied to plastic
production and transport. This innovative initiative also results in a reduction of 33.58 metric tons of
CO2 each year, contributing to the UAE’s vision for a sustainable, net-zero future.
Reusable glass bottles
Beyond water production, the hotel’s initiative promotes the use of reusable glass bottles, further
reducing plastic waste. The plant’s system encourages recycling and the reuse of glass, helping
create a more sustainable, circular economy. “This commitment to sustainability sets a powerful
example for others in the hospitality industry, positioning Bahi Ajman Palace Hotel as a leader in
sustainable practices,” noted Hamdani who is a known as a sustainability champion in the industry.
Leading the way in sustainability
“This water-from-air project positions us as a trailblazer in sustainable hospitality in the Northern
Emirates. By embracing innovative, environment-friendly solutions, the hotel is demonstrating that
