He also referenced a €6 billion international initiative with Intesa Sanpaolo
to support circular innovation and startups, as well as global estimates
suggesting circular practices could yield USD 4.5–6.5 trillion by 2030.
From Bahrain, Yasser Humaid Abdulal, Director of Economic Planning at
the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, outlined Bahrain’s
commitment to circular principles through its Economic Vision 2030 and
industrial strategies. He cited initiatives like the Green Factory label, clean
energy adoption in industrial zones, and a target to achieve net-zero by
2060 with 30% emissions reduction by 2035.
Layla Ali Sabeel, Director of Climate Change and Sustainable
Development at the Supreme Council for Environment, highlighted
Bahrain’s efforts in carbon capture and energy efficiency, emphasising the
need to update legislation to support these goals.
The forum also featured discussions on innovation, sustainability, and
circular practices in both countries, with experts and entrepreneurs
sharing successful case studies that contribute to environmental and
economic goals.
