The UAE Fatwa Council is going to sight the Ramadan crescent moon of this year, utilising drones
equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.

The Council said that this is the first time in the world that the crescent moon be sighted using
'drones' equipped with artificial intelligence technologies, in an initiative that reflects the UAE's

leadership in adopting innovative technological solutions.

Observation is simply an extension of direct sighting, which is the basis for establishing the sighting
of the crescent moon, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) clearly stated: 'Do not fast until you see

the crescent moon, and do not break your fast until you see it, and if it is cloudy, then estimate for it.'
