The event marks the end of the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar Ramadan. The name itself
translates to “feast of breaking the fast”. It falls on the first day of the tenth month of the Islamic
calendar Shawwal.

In addition to the five-day long weekend, public transport timings have changed during the holiday and
free public parking has been announced throughout Dubai.

The RTA has confirmed the Dubai Metro operational hours during the Eid Al Fitr long weekend.

The Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai clarified that the Dubai Metro will run for an hour longer
every day during the upcoming public holiday. The Dubai Metro opening times during Eid Al Fitr can
be seen below.
