The moon-sighting committee has confirmed

The UAE moon-sighting committee has officially confirmed the Eid Al Fitr start date for 2025.

It has now been confirmed that Eid Al Fitr 2025 will officially begin on Sunday March 30 and Saturday
March 29 will be the final day of Ramadan.

The confirmed Eid Al Fitr start date means that we will enjoy a bumper four-day weekend lasting
until Tuesday April 1 in Abu Dhabi.

The UAE moon-sighting committee saw the crescent of Shawwal on Saturday evening, which means
that Saturday March 29 is the final day of the month of fasting.

UAE public holiday law states that Eid Al Fitr is a three-day break when Ramadan is a 29-day month.

The public holiday celebrates the end of the month of fasting and is held on the first three days of the
Islamic month of Shawwal.

The Islamic Hijri calendar relies on the cycles of the moon, unlike the Gregorian calendar, which is
based on the sun.

The lunar calendar is used predominantly by Muslims around the world to determine the dates of
religious events and observances.
