2/13/23, 3:12 PM The General Sports Authority Launches A Program To Prepare New Sports Leaders
The General Sports Authority launched the Sports Leadership Empowerment Program, which aims to
prepare and develop young national cadres and enable them to work in the administrative field in the
sports sector, in line with government directives and the fifty principles aimed at promoting investment
in human capital and the continuous building of skills.
The authority said in a statement today, Tuesday, that the program lasts from the 6th to the 10th of
February, and includes a series of lectures and workshops that will focus on the axes of sports
leadership, sports organizations, regulations, laws, sports diplomacy, international relations in sports,
communication, negotiation, and sports marketing. .
During the opening speech, His Excellency Saeed Abdul Ghaffar Hussain, Secretary General of the
General Sports Authority, said: “The authority is looking forward, through the program, to achieving
the best commitment to government directives aimed at implementing transformational projects
aimed at contributing to shaping the future by strengthening the capabilities of program members
according to the latest international studies, and developing their managerial capabilities to be able to
occupy leadership positions in the sports sector.”
His Excellency continued: “The program aims to introduce associates to a set of axes that represent
the basic pillars of work in the administrative field, in line with the vision of our wise leadership,
through the constant pursuit of strengthening governance and developing the work system, which
contributes to enhancing opportunities for achieving continental and international achievements.”
Omar Abdul Rahman Al Ali, Director of the Sports Leadership Center at the Public Authority for
Sports, said: “The program represents an opportunity to empower national cadres and refine their
skills, in addition to developing their knowledge about various aspects of administrative work, with the
aim of enhancing their chances of occupying leadership positions in sports institutions, whether at the
local or international levels. Continental or international, in a way that contributes to enhancing the
good global reputation of the UAE and develops opportunities to attract major sporting events and
tournaments and host them in the UAE.
The program aims to develop young male and female leaders with the achievement of certain criteria
for membership, including possession of a higher education certificate and experience in sports work.
The program also provides participants with the opportunity to join a number of specialized training
programs that contribute to their further development.
The activities of the program began with a lecture on sports leadership given by Dr. Ahmed Al-
Mutawa, member of the Board of Directors of Al-Nasr Club Company, followed by a workshop
presented by His Excellency Major General Dr. Muhammad Al-Murr, Director of the General
Department for Human Rights in Dubai Police, President of the UAE Athletics Federation and
