economic activities and provides proactive services to decision-makers, business owners,
investors, and research centres.
The NER connects 46 entities using a unified economic number (ERN), integrating data between
federal and local bodies. This supports the UAE’s digital transformation goals by reducing
paperwork. It aligns with the ‘We the UAE 2031’ vision to enhance leadership in government service
provision.
The platform will be regularly updated to improve transparency in business performance. It also
aims to support the UAE’s global credit rating with international classification bodies by adhering to
the International Standard Classification System (ISIC4). This promotes sustainable growth in
strategic sectors.
The NER plays a vital role in the UAE’s new economic model focused on innovation and knowledge.
By offering additional resources for investors and business owners, it facilitates digital business
operations. Currently, it holds 1.5 million active and cancelled commercial licences.
Future Developments
Looking forward, the Ministry plans to link the platform with 100 federal and local entities within
two years. They aim to increase services to 500 while reducing service delivery times. The platform
was developed following various economic laws related to commercial companies, registers, and
anti-money laundering.
The launch ceremony saw attendance from key figures like Alia bint Abdullah Al Mazrouei, Minister
of State for Entrepreneurship, alongside representatives from 34 federal and local entities.
