Dubai Turns Waste Oil into Clean Fuel in New Green Deal

Dubai Municipality and BiOD Technology have deepened their partnership with a detailed plan to turn used
cooking oils and grease into clean B100 biodiesel. This expanded report explains how the process
works, what comes next, and why it matters for Dubai’s environment and economy. It is written in simple English

1. Why Used Oils Matter

Every day, restaurants, hotels, and homes in Dubai throw away thousands of litres of used cooking
oil (UCO) and fats, oils, and grease (FOG). When these oils go down kitchen sinks or into garbage bins, they can:

Clog sewer pipes, causing costly repairs.
Raise treatment costs, because wastewater plants must remove fats before cleaning water.
Harm marine life if they enter waterways.
