Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, has launched a historic
initiative titled “Documenting the Legacy of Sheikh Rashid” in collaboration with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al
Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF). This project aims to preserve the remarkable life and contributions
of the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the former Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and
the visionary ruler behind Dubai’s rise to global prominence.
Sheikh Rashid played a pivotal role in transforming Dubai from a modest desert town into a world-leading hub
of trade, commerce, and innovation. His visionary leadership laid the foundation for Dubai’s economic, urban,
and infrastructural development. This year marks the 34th anniversary of his passing, making it an opportune
time to honor his legacy through this project, which includes an integrated archive that showcases Sheikh
Rashid’s leadership values, principles, and achievements.
The initiative seeks to provide future generations with a reliable resource that highlights Sheikh Rashid’s critical
role in Dubai’s transformation, shaping it into a global model of modernity and growth. By documenting his
leadership journey, the project strengthens national pride and offers insight into the values that drove Dubai’s
exponential growth under his guidance. The project is also a tribute to the leadership of Sheikh Mohammed bin
Rashid Al Maktoum, current Ruler of Dubai, whose vision continues to build on Sheikh Rashid’s foundation,
positioning Dubai as a global leader in various sectors.
Through this archive, Sheikh Rashid’s legacy as a dynamic leader and architect of Dubai’s modernization will
continue to inspire future generations, ensuring that the story of his visionary efforts remains an integral part of
the UAE’s history.
