6/10/25, 10:23 AM Family Development Foundation Opens Barakat Aldar Club for Seniors at Al Showaib
Al Kaabi added that the Barakat Al Dar Club is an excellent example of community care.
It provides many programs that cover health, culture, and recreation, designed to meet the
various needs of older people. The club reflects the UAE’s leadership vision of social
unity and respect between generations, making sure the knowledge and experience of
        seniors are valued.

He also said the foundation is committed to creating new programs for seniors based on
the best global practices. The club’s activities and awareness programs are designed to
meet seniors’ wishes and help them stay involved in society. These efforts aim to help
seniors live more independently and improve their overall well-being.

Mariam Mohammed Al Rumaithi, Director General of the Family Development
Foundation, explained that opening the Barakat Al Dar Social Club at Al Shiwayb Centre
shows the caring values of the UAE’s leadership, led by President Sheikh Mohamed bin
Zayed Al Nahyan. It also highlights the dedication of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima to

making sure seniors live well. Her vision is to give seniors a safe and encouraging space
where they can continue to contribute and be active in the community.

Al Rumaithi said that Barakat Al Dar is one of many important projects by the foundation
to offer lasting and complete services for older adults. By May 2025, more than 3,500
members had joined the Barakat Al Dar Clubs, with almost 86,000 people taking part in
        activities across Abu Dhabi.

She added that the club offers many programs tailored to seniors’ health, mental, and
social needs. These programs help seniors stay connected with society, share their
experience to help younger generations, and build respect and communication between
        different age groups.

The choice of Al Shiwayb for the new club came after a careful study showed that seniors
in this area needed a special place with services just for them. The foundation made sure
the club meets local needs and balances services across the emirate.

Wafa Mohammed Al Ali, Director of the Family Development Department at FDF, said
the foundation is working hard with public and private partners to create a welcoming and
lasting environment for seniors and residents. They want to offer programs that improve
life quality and encourage seniors to stay active in their communities.

Al Ali also mentioned that the foundation had already opened Barakat Al Dar Clubs in
other areas like Al Mirfa, Al Wathba, Al Sila’, and Al Ain over the last few years. They
also recently launched the Ramah Club in 2025. She confirmed the foundation’s promise
