This took place during the Trade Tech Forum hosted by the World Economic Forum (WEF), the UAE Ministry of
Economy, and the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development on the sidelines of the 13th World Trade
Organization (WTO) Ministerial Conference (MC13) held in Abu Dhabi.
In his address, Al Zeyoudi said: “Today, we have an opportunity to envision a new era of inclusion, sustainable and
accessible trade. A new era in which the movement of goods and services across borders is faster, more secure, more
transparent, and even more efficient. A new era powered by technology.”
He noted that the Trade Sustained AI Initiative seeks to catalyse collaboration between academia, research
institutions, and industry leaders to develop AI-powered solutions that advance sustainable trade practices worldwide.
It seeks to expedite the integration of AI technology into the supply chain sector through knowledge transfer and
innovation.
"In parallel, the release of the Regulation 5.0 for Future Trade Tech report “underscores [the UAE’s] commitment to
foster an enabling regulatory environment for technological innovation”. Developed in consultation with industry
leaders and regulatory experts, Regulation 5.0 is designed to provide flexible, forward-looking regulations that
accommodate the rapid pace of technological change while safeguarding stakeholder interests, according to Al
Zeyoudi.
“These initiatives represent an important step towards modernising the global trade system and ensuring its resilience
in the face of evolving challenges and opportunities,” the minister said, stressing his belief in the power of technology
to shape the future of trade.
“Through collaborative efforts and shared expertise, we can use technology and trade to build a more equitable and
sustainable trading system that empowers individuals and communities worldwide.”
UAE Ambitious Vision for Trade Tech Advancement
Al Zeyoudi highlighted the transformative potential of technology in global trade, noting the role of AI, blockchain, and
fintech solutions in enhancing supply chains and finance transactions.
Emphasising the imminent paradigm shift, he asserted that “trade Tech is going to completely transform global trade,”
positioning the UAE as a vanguard in its development and deployment.
