The UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism has held a key coordination meeting with Oman’s Ministry of
Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion to strengthen bilateral efforts in regulating competition and
        promoting fair trade practices.

The talks, led by the UAE’s Competition Department and Oman’s Competition Protection and Monopoly Prevention
Centre, focused on advancing cooperation in fast-evolving economic and technological sectors.

        Targeting digital market monopolies

Both parties explored strategies to monitor monopolistic behaviour in digital markets and discussed activating
enforcement tools to ensure business transparency.

They also highlighted the importance of private sector engagement, technical knowledge-sharing, and joint capacity-
building to boost their roles in regional and global competition policy forums.

The UAE delegation outlined its regulatory framework for the digital economy, sharing best practices for managing
complaints related to e-commerce platforms under Federal Decree-Law No. 36 of 2023 on Regulating Competition.
