6/25/25, 8:50 AM UAE and Oman deepen ties on competition and fair trade
Joint action for fair trade
Mohammed Sultan Janahi, Director of Competition at the UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism, said the meeting
reflects a mutual commitment “to develop a fairly competitive trading environment by adopting global best
legislations and criteria.”
He added that the Ministry, along with its partners, is working to build “an integrated legislative ecosystem that
promotes competition and enables fair business practices.”
He also expressed the UAE’s intention to expand coordination with Oman through joint studies and private sector
awareness programmes.
Building a unified Gulf approach
A representative from Oman’s Competition Protection and Monopoly Prevention Centre noted the importance of
leveraging the UAE’s expertise in strengthening the competition ecosystem at both the bilateral and GCC levels.
Both sides agreed to advance cooperation through a joint action plan that includes hosting technical workshops on the
digital platform economy and facilitating the exchange of data and expertise.
This is expected to support cross-border studies and research, paving the way for more resilient and integrated supply
chains across the region.
