4 Days Work Week Debate: Amidst the ongoing debate on the demand for 4 work weeks by employees across the world, the
Dubai government has implemented a new rule of four working days and three days week off for its public sector
employees.

4 Days Work Week: Amid the ongoing debate over the demand for 4 work weeks by employees around the world, Dubai government
employees have got a new gift on the Islamic New Year. From July 1, 2025, a new system called ‘Our Flexible Summer’ has been
implemented for all government employees working under the Dubai government.

Under this, employees have to work only 4 days a week. However, at present this system will remain in force only till 12 September 2025.
The purpose of this new system is to improve the work-life balance of the employees and increase their productivity. The Dubai
Government Human Resources Department (DGHR) has taken this step on the basis of a successful pilot project implemented last year in
2024.
