HOUSTON/LONDON – Baker Hughes reports that it has conducted what it describes as “one of the
largest ever full-scale studies of flare combustion” in collaboration with bp.
The oilfield services company said that bp deployed its emissions abatement technology, flare.IQ, to
quantify methane emissions from its flares. The study involved testing the accuracy of flare.IQ
technology at 65 flares across seven regions, in a range of different conditions.
Baker Hughes says that the real-time data obtained from the study is now enabling bp to carry out early
interventions and reduce emissions from flaring.
