Emirates Sharia Fatwa Council sets Dhs25 as
value of Zakat Al Fitr

The Emirates Council for Sharia Fatwa issued, after a field study it conducted regarding
determining the amounts and values of Zakat Al Fitr, expiation, fasting ransom, and Iftar
for the fasting person for the year 2024, in coordination with charitable bodies and
societies at the level of the UAE.
A general fatwa in which the Council clarified that Zakat Al Fitr is obligatory for young
and old, male and female Muslims, and it is valued at 2.5 kilogrammes of rice for each
person, and it is permissible to pay it in cash at an amount of Dhs25 per person in the
UAE.
The Council clarified that Zakat Al Fitr must be paid after dawn on the day of Eid, and it
is also permissible to pay it at the beginning of the month, just as it is permissible to pay
it before sunset throughout the day of Fitr, adding that it is not permissible to be
negligent in delaying it.
