Page 40 - The Skinny On Your Diet Plan
P. 40
Your Total Met is your official starting number of calories you
should be consuming every day to reach your goals. It accounts for the total
metabolic needs of your new “you”. Remember, it’s all just a best guess.
So, adjustments are typically needed and if so, it is from this number that
you start making adjustments in 250 calorie increments (up or down) based
on your results;
This means that you’ll have to trust the science behind the plan and
following your caloric plan carefully, give it your best go. If you do stay
faithful to your caloric plan and follow the scientific rules laid out here in
this book (as well as the rules for adjustments), then you will absolutely
reach your goals. There are no questions about that!
Let’s talk a bit more on making necessary adjustments. To adjust
whatever plan or actions were taken, you must make decisions based on real
data; the outcome or “results” of your efforts.
Adjusting Calorie Intake
Use an outcome-based decision-making process regularly.
This means:
1. Define clearly what your goals are.
2. Define how to measure whether you’re moving towards those goals.
This could be anything: body measurements, how much energy you
have, sleep quality, and so on. It’s up to you what you use to
measure. If you’re not sure, then ask your coach.
3. Gather data regularly. This could be daily, weekly, monthly, etc. As
appropriate for each tracking method, respectively.
