Paint formulations with 80-85% PVC were tested using our Add Dispers RC 40A product and competing dispersion additives at a 0.5% rate, and stabilization tests were performed. Add Dispers RC 40A product achieved positive long-term stabilization with a viscosity change of 4.02%, as indicated in Table 2, and this was confirmed by characterization techniques.ConclusionIn water-based paints, dispersing agents are used to reduce viscosity, shorten dispersion time, increase color and hiding power, and prevent precipitating and flocculation. A maximum viscosity change of 15-20% is generally accepted for water-based paints when stored at high temperatures (52%u00b12%u00b0C) for 30 days. Our studies have shown that after using Add Dispers RC 40A in paint formulations, post-stabilization viscosity change was better than that of competing products, as confirmed by characterization techniques.
